Pulwama, Feb 08 (KNO): A vital bridge on Romshi rivulet in Rohmoo village in South Kashmir's Pulwama district that was damaged in 2014 floods has been completed and is expected to be thrown open for public soon. Locals from Rohmoo told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that this bridge was washed out during 2014 floods and since then the people of this area have been facing hardships. They said that a bailey bridge was installed in the area but that isn't enough to manage the rush on the vital route. Zahoor Ahmad, a local resident said that this bridge connects Pulwama district with neighbouring Budgam district and is of vital importance but most of the time the work on the bridge remained on halt due to which it took more than 10 years for completion. He said that many bridges, which were approved after 2014, were completed much before but due to unknown reasons this bridge wasn't completed on time. Irshad Ahmad, another local resident, said that this bridge funded by the World Bank was taken up by JKPCC nine years ago and work was started accordingly, however, they worked at a very slow pace. He said that after the intervention of DC Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, JKPCC was merged and good progress on the bridge was made and has been completed now. Locals said that they are thankful to DC Pulwama for his intervention and it was possible only due to his intervention. Meanwhile, an official of R&B said bridge is complete and minor work on the sides of the bridge will take just a few days following which it will be thrown open for public—(KNO)
